Use Claude to Configure Changesets for Monorepo Releases

If you maintain a monorepo with multiple publishable packages, versioning and changelog generation by hand is a recipe for missed releases. Changesets automates all of it, and Claude can get you from zero to a fully working release pipeline.

Set up Changesets in this pnpm workspace monorepo. Configure it to use semantic versioning, generate CHANGELOG.md in each package, and add a GitHub Actions workflow with a 'Release' job that opens a version bump PR and a publish job that runs when that PR is merged.

Claude will install @changesets/cli, create .changeset/config.json with sensible defaults, write both GitHub Actions workflows, and add changeset, version, and release scripts to the root package.json.

Once it's running, the day-to-day workflow is simple:

# Claude can explain this workflow inline too
pnpm changeset # describe what changed and the bump level
pnpm changeset version # bump versions and update changelogs
pnpm changeset publish # publish all changed packages to npm

If some packages in your repo are private and should never be published, tell Claude which ones — it'll add them to the ignore array in the Changesets config so they're excluded from release automation.

Changesets turns "who bumped what and when?" from a mystery into an auditable paper trail.

Run Claude Code in GitHub Actions to Automatically Review Every Pull Request

Set up Claude Code as an automated reviewer in your CI pipeline — on every pull request, it reads the diff, checks for bugs, security issues, missing tests, and convention violations, then posts its findings as a PR comment. Your human reviewers get a head start because the obvious issues are already flagged before they look.

Ask Claude to Build a Deployment Checklist from Your Actual Infrastructure

Before deploying, tell Claude to read your project — migrations, environment variables, queue workers, scheduled tasks, caching, third-party integrations — and generate a deployment checklist that's specific to your app. Not a generic "did you run migrations?" list, but one that knows YOUR infrastructure and catches the things YOUR deploy can break.

Ask Claude to Generate a README from Your Actual Codebase — Not a Template

Instead of writing a README from memory or copying a template, tell Claude to read your project and generate one that's actually accurate — real setup instructions from your config, real architecture from your directory structure, real API examples from your routes, and real prerequisites from your dependency files.
